Business
Hospitality operating, scaled with discipline.
Brandon Watzman's business career has centered on modern hospitality — building, operating, and scaling restaurant concepts where design, ingredient quality, and unit economics all have to work together.
Operating background
The Madera Group
Los Angeles–based hospitality company behind Tocaya Modern Mexican and Toca Madera. Brandon's exposure here shaped his playbook for chef-driven, design-forward, multi-unit hospitality.
Fast-casual brand exposure
Tocaya Modern Mexican
Fresh-casual Modern Organic Mexican concept that expanded across California, Arizona, Colorado, and beyond — backed by a ~$20.85M Breakwater Management investment to scale operations.
Full-service hospitality
Toca Madera
Chef-driven full-service concept emphasizing design, ingredient quality, and immersive guest experience — a reference point for premium hospitality work.
Cross-border real estate & hospitality
Mexico Development — Cancun & Los Cabos
Active development work in Mexico spanning resort-adjacent hospitality, branded residential, and mixed-use real estate — with a focus on the Cancun / Riviera Maya corridor and the Los Cabos / Baja California Sur market where U.S. capital, international design talent, and local operating expertise have to align.
Hospitality partnership
Kayak Hotels — Partnership
Strategic partnership with Kayak Hotels on tech-forward, design-driven lodging concepts. The relationship combines Kayak's distribution and brand reach with on-the-ground hospitality operating discipline for properties in growth markets.
Mexico development partner
Atelier Group (Cancun) — Partnership
Partnership with Atelier Group, the Cancun-based luxury hospitality and development group behind the Atelier Playa Mujeres and Estudio Playa Mujeres resorts. Joint work focuses on hospitality-led development, branded experiences, and elevating the guest standard across the Mexican Caribbean.
Automotive retail & operations
Berkshire Hathaway Automotive
Leadership and operating experience inside one of the largest automotive retail groups in the United States. Brandon's work spanned dealership operations, customer acquisition, and the discipline of high-volume retail at scale — lessons that translate directly into unit-economics-driven hospitality and consumer businesses.
Mortgage & fintech operations
Quicken Loans
Operating background inside the nation's largest mortgage lender during a period of intense technology and process innovation. Brandon developed deep expertise in high-velocity sales operations, lead conversion, digital customer experience, and the data infrastructure required to operate at national scale.
Independent
Arizona Advisory
Mentoring and advising early-stage Arizona founders in hospitality, wellness, and consumer brands — focused on unit economics, real estate, and operating discipline.
Operating philosophy
Great hospitality businesses are built on three things: a concept guests genuinely want to repeat, operators who can execute the same experience across every shift, and unit economics that survive the cycle. Brandon's work is biased toward those fundamentals over growth-for-its-own-sake.
In Arizona specifically, he believes the strongest opportunity sits with independent operators ready to move from one unit to a small, repeatable group of two-to-five — the hardest and most important jump in hospitality.
Mexico development
Cross-border work in Cancun, Los Cabos & the Riviera Maya.
A meaningful portion of Brandon Watzman's current work sits south of the border. He partners on hospitality-led development in Mexico — across Cancun, Playa Mujeres, the Riviera Maya, and the Los Cabos corridor in Baja California Sur — where U.S. capital, international design talent, and local operating expertise have to be stitched together carefully for a project to actually perform.
Two relationships anchor that work. Kayak Hotels is a hospitality partner on tech-forward, design-driven lodging concepts, pairing modern distribution and brand reach with disciplined property-level operations. Atelier Group, the Cancun-based luxury hospitality and development group behind the Atelier Playa Mujeres and Estudio Playa Mujeres resorts, is a development partner on the ground — bringing decades of Mexican Caribbean construction, operating, and guest-experience expertise to joint projects.
Together, those partnerships let Brandon focus on what he does best: structuring the deal, aligning the capital stack, and making sure the design and operating standard actually survives from rendering to opening day.
